Empowering Work Relationships Seminar and Toolkit
The employees of any company are its greatest asset. In some companies, employee talent is underutilized, resulting in a lack of engagement among the employees and an atmosphere that lacks enthusiasm and whole-hearted participation.
Managers are often hired with the expectation that they are skilled in establishing and maintaining good working relationships that bring out the best in their reporting employees. But if you ask any manager what management system they use, they will most likely look at you with a blank stare. Most managers “manage”! They get by using their own personal style of management. Some managers are naturally better at this than others. And no matter how gifted a manager is, there is an advantage to having all managers in an organization using a consistent management “system” that clearly states expectations and standards for delivering work.
Managers benefit when there is an explicit “system” that backs up their personal management style because it creates clarity for all involved about how things will work and what to expect when things don’t go as planned. Employees benefit because they know from the start what they’ve signed up for and how to get help if they need it.
A good management system allows a degree of autonomy for employees, who are expected to deliver as promised unless they run into something unexpected. Then the manager is the one to call on for help. This system allows managers to focus on their strategic work, while still being available to their team to offer support and problem-solving as needed, without micromanaging.

Empowering Work Relationships Toolkit
Managing people is both an art and a science. There are certainly well-defined legal and procedural guidelines for managers and companies to hire, fire, discipline, and evaluate employees (the science.) What’s often more elusive is the “art” of managing people; the skill to engage the full potential of employees for the mutual benefit of the employee and the business.
Step-by-Step Guide
The Empowering Work Relationships Toolkit is a step-by-step guide for business owners, managers and team/project leaders to develop healthy work relationships based on accountability, respect and trust. Managers teach their teams to produce results through shared expectations in an environment of wellbeing.
This people management toolkit includes:
• People management fundamentals broken down into 12 topic areas
• Specific know-how, methods, templates and techniques
• User Guidelines to help you quickly put the toolkit into practice
• An Intentional Leaders Coach for personalized support
For more details see What’s in the Toolkit?
Empowering Work Relationships Toolkit Benefits
The Empowering Work Relationships Toolkit may be used by individual managers to improve their own skills or used by all company managers as a means to cultivate a consistent style of company-wide management that:
• Reduces turnover and training costs
• Creates an environment of shared expectations, accountability and predictable results
• Maximizes the potential and enhances the productivity of all company staff
• Assists in effective workload management
• Lessens stress
• Promotes trust
• Establishes accountable teams that are effective at producing results
Don’t leave it to chance and expect that managers automatically know how to get results from the people they manage. In fact, this is more often not the case. What’s usually missing is a foundation of clarity and agreement in the manager/employee relationship that lays the groundwork for employee success and predictable workplace outcomes. This Empowering Work Relationships Toolkit along with a dash of inspiration gives managers the framework for exceeding expectations.
The toolkit pairs well with Workflow Documentation to ensure clarity about the company’s operating procedures and standards.

LEAD Seminar Description (How it Works)
The LEAD Seminar is a complete kit with Participant materials and Facilitator Guide with detailed description, timing and logic behind the concepts and activities in hard copy or PDF format. It includes methods, templates, activities and take‐aways in the following areas:
• The Leadership Framework (LEAD)
• Components of Leadership

LEAD participants identify their preferred leadership qualities from the LEAD Framework categories and create their own Leadership Profile based on their personal style.
The company vision is the foundation for leadership. Participants then build the Vision for their department or team that is aligned with the overall company vision. These complementary visions establish pathways through which everyone can contribute as leaders. When the vision has been clearly established, the next step is to create Implementation Plans to achieve the vision. By working collaboratively toward the fulfillment of a common vision, all participants have the opportunity to be leaders throughout the process.
The seminar is recommended for 6‐20 participants and can be delivered via multiple Zoom sessions or in a 1- or 2-day offsite.
The LEAD Seminar is available as a standalone product that can be delivered by your in‐house HR or training staff.
